Now, this is a pretty powerful pool in terms of raw talent and popularity quotient. Anwar himself hasn’t made a commercial failure of a film yet as a director since his debut in 2005 with the superhit mass entertainer Rajamanikyam. He then went on to direct flicks like Chotta Mumbai, Annan Thambi, Usthaad Hotel… and need we say anything about his debut as a producer!
Bangalore Days, which also incidentally stars Fahadh and Nithya among others, is the biggest hit in Malayalam cinema history and still going strong. Way to go Anwar!
Now, he is on to his next one and there is no real reason to worry that this one could be a dud – not given his track record. Anwar had previously directed Nithya in a leading capacity in Usthaad Hotel and Fahadh in the short film Ami in the anthology flick 5 Sundarikal.
The rest of the details regarding this upcoming film are still unclear, including the genre.
However, before this directorial venture of his hits the floors, he has another project he is producing under the banner of his home company Anwar Rasheed Entertainment. This of course is Premam, starring Nivin Pauly and to be directed by Alphonse Puthran. The shooting for this one will start next week.
