Fahadh Faasil to play a fisherman!

Fahadh Faasil is trying his best not to be type cast as a metro oriented hero. The state award winner has made quite a devoted fan following, mostly because of his choices in projects, playing darker and ordinary roles with the same restraint and natural ease which has evolved in to his signature of sorts.

But his successful movies always had him playing the urban Indian youth, used to the metro life and its various shades, so this will be a very intentional departure from that pigeonholing for Fahadh.

He will be playing a local fisherman in James Albert’s next movie reported to be a rom – com. The shooting will begin sometime around September, after Fahadh’s wedding with the mesmerizing Nazriya Nazim in August. The actress playing the lead part hasn’t been decided upon yet.

Now, James Albert may be a familiar name to many, but only as a writer – this is his maiden venture as a director. He, of course, made his commercially and critically acclaimed film debut as a scenarist with the hit movie Classmates.

His later movies though, failed to make much of an impact at the box office front or in the review pages, with the notable exception of the Mohanlal starrer Ividam Swargamanu. He had also teamed up with Lal Jose for the family drama Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal.

The passionate writer is excited about actually wielding the literal and metaphorical megaphone in this one as he is also the writer. The story gets more personal for James as the setting of the story and the location of the filming both are at the beach town of Thangassery in Kollam – his hometown.

As James hints about the rich history of Thangassery as Portuguese and Dutch settlements, one assume the setting of the flick and the plot will very likely reflect this deep passion the film maker has for the area.

Eagerly looking forward to this one..
