The Telugu film lovers are all praise for their ‘Attha’ who stole the show in the blockbuster film, Attarintiki Daredi. The viewers have simply adored her dignified personality with a strong command on the screen. Nadhiya went head to head with Power Star Pawan Kalyan in the film, delivering the best supporting performance as character artiste. Chitramala takes a look at her career graph which was sacrificed for her family and her scintillating comeback with second innings.
Early start – Nadhiya kicked off as an actress in Tamil and Malayalam in 1984. Her first film was with Lalettan Mohanlal and Padmini in Malayalam hit, Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu. She then proved herself as a credible actress with films like Poove Poochadava in Tamil and Koodum Thedi in Malayalam. Her role as ‘Judy’ in this film won several hearts.
Sabbatical after marriage – After many films like Kandu Kandarinju, Panchagni and Shyama, Nadhiya was slowly racing to the top league in Malayalam. However, she gave up her journey abruptly with her marriage. Nadiya chose personal life over success and took a long break from the film industry. She married Shirish Godbole, an investment banker, and settled with her husband and her children abroad blissfully.
The second comeback – Nadhiya made her powerful comeback exactly after a decade in 2004 with Tamil film, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, where she played Jayam Ravi’s mother. She went on to portray several character roles with films like Thaamirabharani, Sandai, Pattalam in Tamil and Doubles, Sevenes, Aaru Sundarimaarude Katha in Malayalam.
Breakthrough in Tollywood – Nadhiya made an appearance in Telugu with film Mirchi in 2012, playing Prabhas’ mother. After seeing her commendable performance in a woman oriented role, director Trivikram Srinivas approached her to narrate a story for his film, Attarintiki Daredi. The rest, as they, is History. Her role as Sunanda, aunt of Pawan Kalyan won many hearts. Nadhiya has a long way to go after her brilliant second stint.
We hope to see more of her soon.
