While Vidya Balan has been signed to play the central character in The Dirty Picture, the latest buzz has it that Emraan Hashmi will play the male lead in this hard hitting venture, reportedly based on the life of yesteryear actress Silk Smitha. Director Milan Luthria and producer Ekta Kapoor believe Emraan is apt for the role.
Our source said, “Milan wanted someone with a rough and a rugged look, who could carry off the role. Also, having worked with the actor in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Milan felt that Emraan was a good fit.”
Though The Dirty Picture is a heroine oriented film, Emraan is gung-ho to be a part of it. “Milan and Emraan have had a lengthy discussion and if all goes according to plan, Emraan will be seen opposite Vidya Balan,” said our source.
