Introduction
After the surprise hit of Dhee, this flick Dubai Seenu is fresh from the cannons of Seenu Vytla. As most of the film was made during the stalemate over release of "Dhee", everybody expected that the director must have eyed on the best. But it disappoints to the core. The first half begins on just OK note, but in a few minutes, there is lot of entertainment and the tempo is built with good interval bang. The second half is a complete let down.
Plot
A Vizagite Seenu aka Dubai Seenu Ravi Teja a desperado for Dubai fortunes lands in Mumbai. Instead of going to Dubai, his life ends up as a roadside vendor. In a local train, he finds a beautiful girl Madhumathi (Nayantara). His love is instant. The girl too accepts (after entertaining the audience with a couple of dream songs). Owing to inordinate delay in realizing her target, she is forced to get back to her place – Hyderabad. Seenu comes in search of her and remains with his brother-in-law (Banuchander – playing the DCP role). One fine day, Dubai Seenu chases and kills a dreaded gangster, brother of a Dubai-based mafia don Jinnah (played by Bollywood artiste Sushanth). Jinnah escapes the attack. Now, both are after each other. What is the flashback? Watch it for yourself.
Performance
Ravi Teja played with élan. His energy is well displayed in the stunt sequences. Compared to his previous flicks, he looks handsome in this flick. Nayantara is glamorous all through the film – doing the role of a Radio Jockey. She did a neat job, without scope for expose. Sushanth (the RGV product) made his debut as full-fledged villain here. In the very first film in Tollywood, he had good scope for displaying his talents and is in his elements. He also looked handsome. His chemistry with Nayanatara is also fantastic. JD Chakri and Neha played the couple, whose marriage is performed with the help of Ravi Teja (the audience are told through dialogues). Shayaji Shinde as a baddy does excellent job with comical touch. MS Narayana appears as Salman Raj – the Action Hero! Raghu Babu did the part of a subordinate to Sayaji Shinde in the home department. Krishna Bhagwan, Brahmanandam and most of the characters that appeared in Ravi Teja’s earlier flick with Seenu Vytla in "Venky" are here to entertain you within their limits.
Technical Details
The story is conceived in the fashion of Venky (earlier flick of Seenu Vytla), playing with the elements of anti-socials and their nexus with the Home Department mixed with the personal element of revenge.
The first half is good with all elements having their share. But when it comes to the second half, the audience is tested of their patience to the maximum level. The screenplay runs awry. Direction by Seenu Vytla clearly lacks seriousness in this part.
Songs are just average. Music by Mani Sharma is also a letdown on the screen. Background score lacks the punch that is mostly required in a revenge drama.
Comedy is given absolute place here. However, the comedy in the second half becomes monotonous..
There is a feeling that certain characters are not necessary at all. Though there is a role played by Sunil, anybody could have done it (Mark – there is no place for Sunil to show his comedy). The characters of Chakri and Neha are just waste of time. The sudden developments of relation between the hero and these two characters; and the heroine’s relationship with the couple (Chakri and Neha) all look merely dramatic and very unconvincing.
There is freshness when the scenes of Hyderabad in relation to terrorism are shown. The chase scene at Old City area is good particularly in view of the latest real life development (a bomb blast at Mecca Maszid). The stunts are loaded with lot of gunfire in the fashion of a Bollywood flick.
The climax is chiseled on the lines of a yesteryears flick. Cinematography and production values are good.
Judgment
The movie is opened to an average talk. Its prolonged run is certainly doubtful.
