Sequels for previous hit films have become a familiar aspect. Reason could be that people who saw the prequel will be left happy and satisfied. There may be many influences to ask for sequel films such as films content, dialogues, hero-director combination or anything.
Sequels that made never always received the same way few were hit some saw failure too. Creating another magic with previous one’s influence is like handling sword with two edges. Whatever be the reason for demand, sequel thought is always an interesting subject to talk about. Let’s talk about list of few old classic Telugu movies whether can be made, if so who can play the previous popular roles.
This film is termed as one of the classic in Telugu film history. Gundamma Katha was made in 1962 as a drama film. The plot revels around the story of a proud mother-Gundamma (Suryakantham) and the way she was brought on track by her two son-in-laws (NTR and ANR). This Gem of a film was directed by Kamalakara Kameswara Rao and was produced by B.Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani. Gundamma Katha is still remembered by many people and when telecasted will always gain good TRP’s. Discussions and programmes were made relating to the sequel of the film. Well, it is not an easy thing as we speak. Charcters in the film are still remembered, more important the Gundamma’s role played by Suryakantham. There is actress in current era who can match the role. The other Characters such as NTR’s and ANR’s can be played by their successors BalaKrishna and Nagarjuna or by their Grandsons Nagachaitanya and Jr.NTR.
Mayabazar is a mythological epic film that released in 1957. Mayabazar(Market of illusions) is an classic directed by Kadiri Venkata Reddy that drove Telugu audience crazy after its release. It has a complicated yet understandable story whose focal point is revenge. The screenplay of the film carries is so subtle emotions with comedy, thrill and action that you not give a miss to watch it.
Lead characters that appeared in Mayabazar were:
NTR as Krishna, SVR as Ghatotkacha, Savitri as Sasirekha and many other interesting characters. Mayabazar was recently re-released in a colour version which got overwhelmed response from the audience.
The above characters gave a good weight-age to the film and justified by their roles by an evergreen acting. Mayabazar too was in the headlines as the subject for sequel. Though no director or an actor spoke about this classic old Telugu movie. It would be fascinating if someone like S.S. Rajamouli takes up this subject. Actors like Jr.NTR, Venkatesh, Balakrishna have the capalities to fill the boots of NTR. Mohan Babu, JayaPrakah Narayana is suitable for Ghatotkacha.
Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari:
This Telugu super-natural fantasy film was directed by K. Raghavender Rao and was produced by Ashwini Dutt. It was released early 90’s and made a phenomena at the Box-Office. This film casts Chiranjeevi as Jagadeka Veerudu and Sridevi as Athiloka Sundari. Talking about the plot Raju(Chiranjeevi) falls in extreme love with Indraja(Sridevi) whom he saw in Himalayas. Later he comes to know that Indraja isn’t a normal lady but the daughter of Lord Indra.
She gifts him a ring by which super natural powers can be claimed. The story goes with unexpected twists and turns.
If a sequel for this will ever be made, then that should defenetly be directed by Raghavender Rao himself. Coming to the actors fill-up Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan and SriDevi’s daughter Jahnavi Kapoor will be one can probably fill their parent’s shoe.
Narthanasala(The Dancing Hall) is an Telugu epic mythology based film directed by Kamalakara Kameswara Rao made its release in 1963. This classic has actors like NTR, Savitri and S.V. Rangarao. The film won many awards and owned rewards for its content. Movie revolves around the Virataparvam of the epic Mahabharata. Pandava’s in their final year of vanavasam will be bearing exile, kaurava’s plan to find them and send them into another 14year of exile.
Movie runs with a numbers of characters, who had just done justification to the given roles. If made now the budget will thumbing issue with good artists fill into each role. Balakrishna will be suitable for NTR’s role, since his interest towards mythology is good. Nayanthara, Anushka and even Ramya Krishna can be seen in place of Savitri.
Is an historical, science fiction Telugu cinema directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Balakrishna plays the male lead and Mohini as female lead. The story wheels a time machine that can go back in past and move into feature by just setting a particular date. BalaKrishna has a duel role in the film as Krishna and also Shri Krishna Deya Raya.
Aditya 369 released 1991 was received well because of its unique genre, for which the director is known for.
Children were very much fantasized by watching this science fiction.
Speculations roe that a Sequel naming Aditya 999 was registered and will soon be started. Director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao or Balakrishna never spoke about this, but it would surely again be great film to watch.
