Dhoni signs a 26 crore deal with Vijay Mallya’s UB Group

Indian captain MS Dhoni has joined hands with Vijay Mallya’s United Breweries Group, for an endorsement valued at about Rs. 8 crore per year. Dhoni had signed a deal for three years with the UB group, making it the biggest endorsement deal for an Indian Sportsman.This is the biggest endorsement deal for an Indian sportsperson.

This deal puts the skipper just behind Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and at par with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the the endorsement space.

“UB plans to activate the deal just before the Cricket World Cup kicks off in February,” an official said.

The deal brings Dhoni in level of the Bollywood superstars like Shahrukh Khan, but has just missed from Amir Khan who had signed 30 crore deal with Etisalat, a telecom Operator. According to the officials, Dhoni will be associated with McDowell’s soda, however the deal includes a lot more other than endorsements.

The Indian captain after leading the victory in the 2007 World Twenty20 championship, was rated by the Forbes Magazine as the highest paid player last year. Sources say that, last year Dhoni had earned about $10 million.

The Indian skipper currently endorses 22 brands including footwear and apparel major Reebok, beverages and snacks company PepsiCo, real estate group Amrapali, telecom company Aircel and Future group’s Big Bazaar retail chain.
