The Dhanush – Amala Paul starrer Velai Illa Pattathaari (VIP) came out with its trailer today, and so far the movie is looking like a pop corn munching, mass entertainer with some substance – like we hoped it would!
The flick which has been written and directed by R Velraj, and produced by Dhanush himself under the banner of his company Wunderbar Films, is aiming for a mid July release.
Here’s what the official two and a half minute trailer has given us so far: a plot with substance, good dialogues, realistic setting, romance, comedy and of course action – in short, all the right ingredients!
Dhanush’s character is an unemployed youth who faces off against a world that is hell bent on only ‘respecting’ those who have jobs. He fights against complaints and nagging and humiliating scenarios on a day to day basis – with a touch of humour. He clearly is portrayed as a rather indifferent youth who is not at all ambitious except when asked the tough questions.
Then enters Amala’s character and from there the punch lines and background music takes over. We have signature ‘Dhanush style’ action scenes, clever dialogues and a comical face off with Vivek’s character.
Obviously there is a deep seated romance at the heart of the flick between Dhanush and Amala, and maybe the conflict revolves around this. But we can’t tell from the trailer for sure. For that we gotta watch the movie..
This could very well be Amala’s last Tamil flick for a while, but this one also marks Dhanush’s 25th movie in his very successful career. The movie also has an interesting guest appearance by young music composer Anirudh Ravichander who is shining in the industry right now. After all, it was Dhanush who introduced him to Kollywood.
