Hyderabad, May 18: The elected representatives of the Congress hailing from Telangana region met here on Tuesday and gave green signal to the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proposed tour of Warangal district this month-end.
The meeting, which took place at a private function hall in Secunderabad here for over three hours, discussed the situation arising out of the proposed threat calls by some of the TRS and TDP functionaries against Mr Jagan’s tour. The Congress MPs forum convenor and Karimnagar MP, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar, who briefed newsmen after the meeting, appealed to all political parties in the region not to oppose Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tour as it was primarily intended to console the families of the victims who died on account of the death of the former Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Mr Prabhakar said similarly no person or parties should raise any objection to the proposed tour of the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao, to Vijayawada. “In a democracy, any person can tour any place as he likes,” Mr Prabhakar said.
The Nalgonda MP, Mr Gutta Sukhender Reddy, said there could be no objection to Mr Jagan’s tour in Telangana as it was purely his personal affair. The meeting also discussed the power-point presentation they intend to give before the Justice Srikrishna committee. The state minister, Mr D. Sridhar babu, eight MPs, 12 MLAs and nine MLCs attended the meeting.
