Chief Minister K Rosaiah has invited President Prathibha Patil to the inaugural or valedictory functions to mark the 500th year of the coronation of Srikrishna Devaraya.
In a letter to the President, the chief minister said how Telugu was patronised by Srikrishna Devaraya and that is why he is remembered even after 500 years. Some of the tanks constructed during his period still exist, he pointed out.
The state government proposes to hold the inaugural ceremony of the celebrations in Hyderabad on July 5 while the concluding function would be held at Penugonda in Anantapur district on August 8.
