Chiru to meet Manmohan today

HYDERABAD: In a step in the direction of further cementing ties with the Congress, PRP chief Chiranjeevi will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi tomorrow.

Though Chiranjeevi announced in Eluru today that he would meet the Prime Minister and explain him about the problems being faced by the oustees of Polavaram project, the meeting assumed political significance.

Chiranjeevi recently called on AICC president Sonia Gandhi and discussed state politics apart from other issues. Sonia Gandhi advised Chiranjeevi to meet the Prime Minister.

It may be recalled that Chiranjeevi declared that PRP would have electoral alliances with Congress in local body elections.

PRP also extended its support to Congress candidates in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.

The meeting between PRP chief and the Prime Minister may usher in new political alignments in the state politics.

Already some political parties have predicted the possible merger of PRP with the Congress. However, Chiranjeevi clarified that the cooperation would continue with Congress and scotched the rumours of PRP-Congress merger.
