HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president K Chiranjeevi will tour the Telangana region from June 1.
Speaking after releasing CDs on the Polavaram irrigation project at his party office here today, Chiranjeevi said that he would launch his Telangana tour from Adilabad district where the Pranahita- Chevella lift irrigation project would originate.
He said that the exact date of commencement of his Telangana tour would be finalised after holding discussions with party Telangana district committees.
Chiranjeevi said that the CD released by him would highlight the need for immediate construction of the Polavaram project.
He said the CD would explain to people how Polavaram would benefit all the three regions.
If the project was delayed further, the Telangana region too would suffer badly, he warned. The PRP chief said that they brought out 3,000 copies of for distribution to the public in six coastal districts which would be toured by him between May 5 and 16. His tour will culminate in a public meeting near the Polavaram project site.
The PRP president also released posters and brochures on his Polavaram Sadhana Bus Yatra.
Party leader C Ramachandraiah blamed major irrigation minister Ponnala Lakshmiaha for the inordinate delay in the construction of Polavaram. Ponnala was of the opinion that the construction of Polavaram would be detrimental to Telangana and was therefore delaying the construction works.
Ramachandraiah alleged that though Rs 1,100 crore was allocated in the budget, the government did not release any money for resuming the Polavaram project work. He said the PRP would fight for the better relief and rehabilitation package for the Polavaram oustees.
