The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has termed Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi’s Polavaram Sadhana Bus Yatra as a ploy by `United Andhra’ votaries to foil the Telangana movement.
Briefing reporters on the decisions of the Politburo which had met earlier in the day today, party leader Nayani Narasimha Reddy alleged that Chiranjeevi’s Polavaram yatra, which will commence on May 5 at Velangi in East Godavari district, was nothing but a conspiracy by United Andhra forces against the Telangana movement.
“Telangana forces, including TRS and Telangana JAC headed by Kodandaram, will obstruct Chiranjeevi’s Telangana tour which will start on June 1.’’ Reddy said the Politburo decided to enrol about 10 lakh students to the TR SV, the party’s student wing.
The Politburo observed that the training classes for students conducted by party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao in the past helped the movement and when Rao went on an indefinite fast.
Because of students’ support to Rao’s fast, the Centre announced that it was starting the process for Telangana state formation.
The party membership drive will be launched in a couple of days. The party targeted to enrol 20,000 members in every Assembly constituency. Village, mandal and district level committees will be constituted after the membership enrolment.
The party will organise `Palle Bata’ from June 3 to 10 in all the ten districts, mainly focussing on Assembly segments, where byelections are due. The party chief will also participate in Palle Bata. The Politburo resolved to admit former TDP candidate Chennamaneni Ramesh into the party and field him for the Vemulavada Assembly seat.
According to sources, party leader and MP Vijayasanti clarified at the meeting that she would continue in the party.
She alleged that rumours were being created against her that she would quit the party.
