SRK ‘s romantic comedy directed by Rohit Shetty, Chennai Express collected as much as 100 crores all over the Country, the highest ever for a film in a single opening weekend. The film is an instant blockbuster that connected with the audience with its humorous take on a North Indian guy falling for a South Indian girl. The film was made in a budget of 70 crores with a simple and efficient plot, that was received overwhelmingly well by the audience all over. Trade analysts predicted a hit but this collection has zapped them to the core. "’Chennai Express’ Thursday previews (earned) Rs. 6.75 crore, Friday (opening day) Rs. 33.12 crore, Saturday Rs. 28.05 crore, Sunday Rs. 32.50 crore. Total Rs. 100.42 crore nett. Monstrous weekend… India business only,” Adarsh tweeted on his micro blogging site. Not to forget the rich business the film is making overseas. The film was released on the festive occasion of Eid and fans went berserk with the humongous dose of comedy element in the film. SRK’s lungi dance was well appreciated by Superstar Rajini himself. Rohit Shetty and the team did aggressive marketing for the film before its release. The film had a great response particularly in Hyderabad, where no other film in Telugu was released due to push back of all films post the political turbulence.
