Entry in 2002 – Prabhas, nephew of yesteryear action star Krishnam Raju, made an entry into Tollywood with a very mass role in Easwar. The film that released in 2002 saw him debut for the first time with a larger than life frame and personality. The film received a mixed response.
Crusade of success – after another debacle in 2003 called Raghavendra, Prabhas tasted success for the first time ever with his film Varsham that released in 2004. The film went on to become a blockbuster. Trisha Krishnan starred opposite Prabhas for the first time. The pair went on to do some remarkable films later. Varsham gave Prabhas a heads up to the top ladder.
Image makeover – The ultimate image makeover and recognition happened in 2006, with S S Rajamouli’s Chatrapati. Prabha’s role as ‘Siva’ fetched great reviews all over. The film was one of the biggest blockbusters in the actor’s career and a landmark in his life as such. Shriya Saran co-starred with him in this action flick.
Ride of successes – Prabhas never looked back at mediocre standards after that. His films, Pournami and Chakram that released after were not great hits but a turnaround happened in 2007, when his film Munna hit the screens. The film was a runaway success, showcasing Prabhas in a very stylish role. After this followed Bujjigadu, Billa, Darling, a superhit, Mr Perfect, Rebel and recently, Mirchi. All the films were acclaimed well for their story and treatment.
Romantic link ups – Prabhas was constantly linked with his co stars everytime a film was made. His affair with Shriya Saran was well noted to be one of the serious ones. Later, Prabhas was linked with Kajal Agarwal, when their chemistry sparked off vibes in Darling. Many contemplated marriage to be a possibility between the two.
Baahubali – Prabhas is now busy shooting for Rajamouli’s next magnum opus, Baahubali. The film is riding huge expectations pre – release and is said to be one of the costliest films ever made in the land of Tollywood.
