A midst speculations of an imminent Cabinet reshuffle, the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has convened a Cabinet meeting tomorrow evening.
This, sources said, would be a full-fledged Cabinet meeting lasting several hours or even days as against the token ministerial meetings held in the turbulent past. It is after four months a full Cabinet meeting is happening.
The controversy relating to the Polavaram project will be high on the agenda apart from the welfare schemes to be implemented in the state, especially the Rs 1 per kilogram rice scheme.
Indications are that it would also be stormy as Botsa Satyanarayana who is also the PCC chief is expected to be assertive and would pitch in for his candidates for inclusion in the Cabinet. Botsa and Kiran Reddy are at loggerheads on several counts.
According to sources Botsa has got an upper hand by getting the former PCC chief D Srinivas the MLC post and that DS has got a larger role to play in the coming days.
Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy CM Damodara Rajanarasimha and Danam Nagendar played the key role in breaking the general strike in the Telangana region while the chief minister also played his part in a proactive manner. This also adds to the confidence of Botsa.
Sources close to Botsa said that it may not be easy for the CM to conclude the Cabinet meeting on Saturday as the Ministers; especially the Telangana Ministers will be having a lot of agenda to be discussed. It is likely that the chief minister may openly appeal to the Telangana ministers not to stay away from the State formation day on November 1 as the Centre has already taken up the matter of Telangana. The meeting will see if T-ministers would stick by the State or join the TRS Black Day plan of November 1.
