So many small budget movies get released every week. But only a few of them can impress the audience. One such small budget movie which got released amid zero Expectations but succeeded in scoring big is ‘C/o Kancharapalem’.
Touted to be a drama movie set in the village backdrop Venkatesh Mahal helmed this project with all the new cast and Praveena Paruchuri bankrolled this project. Rana Daggubati presented the film which increased the hype around the film. The word of mouth worked big time and the movie made decent collections at the box office. But, recently the movie failed to grab the eligibility in Indian National Film Awards. Though it meets all the criteria, just because the movie was produced by a US citizen the movie failed to get into the awards nominations. Apologizing for the same, producer Praveena Paruchuri tweeted, “SO SORRY @venkateshmaha25 #CareOfKancharapalem , your hard work, and talent is NOT ELIGIBLE to be recognized at the #indiannationalfilmawards because it was Produced by me- a US citizen although of Indian origin …I failed you”
Replying to that, director Venkatesh Maha trolled Indian rules and regulations and said, “It’s not you @paruchurimd, it’s the outdated rules and regulations of our country. I don’t understand why an Indian film, made by an Indian director, in India, acted by Indians and for Indian audience is not eligible for Indian National Awards. @DFF_India time for a change.”
