Sumanth Shailendra is making his acting debut with this film and this is the first film as a solo hero. Produced by Shailendra Babu under the banner of Sri Shailendra Productions, the film is directed by Prabhakar P. After scoring a failure with the film Next Nuvve, Prabhakar is coming up with this new film. JB is the music director of the film. Director Maruti has provided the screenplay, story and dialogues for this film. The theatrical trailer has impressed everyone and let us check out the review of the film.
Diamond (Shailendra) wants to marry a rich girl and comes across Pavani (Poojitha Ponnada). Instead of proposing his love to Pavani, he actually proposes to Radha(Esha Rebba) who works as a cook at Pavani’s home. After realising that he has proposed a wrong person, Diamond goes back and starts avoiding Radha. This creates some problems for Diamond and his family. What are the problems? What did Diamond do to save his family from the problems? Whom did he finally love? What happens then? forms the story of the film.
Sumanth Shailendra is the newcomer who made his debut with this film. He has impressed with his performance in the movie and has portrayed an energetic performance. Esha Rebba is impressive in the role of heroine and has created an impact with mesmerising looks as well as decent performance. Murali Sharma has got a key role in the movie and he impressed as hero’s father. Raja Ravindra also played heroine’s father and he is also the best. The comedy from all the comic actors is healthy and neat. The rest of the cast has proved their best and made their presence felt.
The camera work of the film is okay. Karthik Palani has done a decent job with lighting and framing. The editing by S B Uddav is okay. The music scored by Jeevan Babu could have been much better. Not a single song is hummable and pleasant. The background score is loud and It did no go well with the movie. The production values maintained by Shailendra Babu are grand.
Maruthi is one of the expert writers when it comes to the romantic comedies. He sure succeeded in weaving a good story but the poor execution became the major problem. The first half was quite good and the interval scene is also impressive. However, things changed in the second half and failed to engage the audience. Despite having a Maruthi mark comedy, the average performances by the actors, poor execution by the director and the not-so-great technical work disappointed the audience leaving ‘Brand Babu’ as a flop
