He is one of the most celebrated writers, directors in the Telugu Film Industry now. Fondly called as ‘Maatala Maantrikudu’ (Wizard of Words), Trivikram Srinivas has made a mark for himself with his impeccable dialogue writing, screenplay and directorial skills. The man who rose to fame from humble beginnings, Trivikram is now one of the top league directors that every star wants to work with. His last film with Pawan Kalyan, Attarintiki Daredi was a huge blockbuster, breaking records of sorts.
On the birthday of his witty writer, Chitramala takes a look at few important snapshots from Trivikram’s life as such, in writing!
Background – Trivikram was born into a humble Brahmin family from Bhimavaram. His real name is Akella Naga Srinivasa Rao. Coming from a strongly academic driven background, Trivikram is an M.Sc Gold Medallist in Nuclear Physics from Andhra University. Who would have thought life would take a turn into writing and direction!
Tollywood Calling – Trivikram was never keen on films. He was always a writer with a perspective. However, his room mate and friend, Comedian Sunil saw more than just a writer in him. Sunil still claims Trivikram to be his role model in life. Trivikram was introduced to T D V Prasad by Sunil. Prasad, who asked Trivikram to pen some dialogues for the climax of his film, was mighty impressed with his skills. He then referred him to assist director K.Vikaya Bhaskar during the making of the film Nuvve Kavali. The rest, as they say is History.
Dialogues – Trivikram’s dialogues are well known and are remembered till this day even from old films like Nuvve Kavali, Nuvve Nuvve, Nuvvu Naaku Nachchav, Manmadhudu and Malliswari. He has an amazing gift with words, a trait unique to his own.
Direction – Trivikram’s stint with direction happened with Nuvve Nuvve, which was a super hit. Then followed Athadu, made in truly Hollywood style that caused a furore. The movie that starred Mahesh Babu was a blockbuster crashing box office with heavy collections. There was no looking back for Trivikram after that – Jalsa, Khaleja, Julayi and the most recent, Attarintiki Daredi. Trivikram has officially taken over the lead space of top film makers with his unique and effective directorial skills.
Awards won – Trivikram won State Nandi Award – FIVE times in a row, for best dialogue writer in films Chiru Navvutho, Nuvvu Naaku Nachchav, Nuvve Nuvve, Malliswari, Manmadhudu and Athadu.
He received Filmfare for Best Director for his work with the film, Athadu.
Ad Maker – Films and writing aside, Trivikram is also a heck of ad director. His popular works include Pepsi Commercial ad with Ram Charan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, TVS Commercial with Mahesh Babu and Celkon Ad Commercial with Tamannah and Virat Kohli.
