The actress herself gave the nod to eager fans at the Cannes International Film Festival, at a sidelines interview, when she said that she is excited to be working with Maniratnam again.
“It’s not just because he is an exemplary film maker but also because he explores creativity and pushes the whole team to do so. It’s a great pleasure to work with him. Abhishek and I both feel this way and working with Maniratnam sir is like working with family.” The gorgeous actress said.
She and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, had initially costarred in lead roles in Maniratnam’s Guru which went on to gain critical acclaim and commercial success. They then repeated the success with Raavan – the Bollywood version of which also starred the couple.
The yet untitled project, which marks her re entry, is reported to be a bilingual one (Tamil and Telugu) and until recently was rumored to have a start studded cast with big names from both industries, especially Tollywood. But actors Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu, who were said to be part of it, have revealed that they have opted out of the movie because of certain problems with the script.
However, Aishwarya seems to be on board and has also said that she has another project on the pipeline with Sanjay Gupta.
But Maniratnam and Aishwarya do have an exemplary track record with some iconic movies and let’s not forget – she debuted in films in Maniratnam’s Iruvar!
