A non-cognisable case was registered on Tuesday against a person, claiming to be a south Indian film producer on a complaint by a small-time actress that she was harassed, police said.
The actress, in her complaint, also stated that a friend of the producer who claimed to have underworld links threatened to kill her.
Nisha Yadav(22), a small-time actress, has lodged a complaint against Anand Ramnath, who introduced himself as film producer from Chennai and started troubling her, said S B Mahamulkar, Assistant Sub Inspector at Kurar police station.
"In the complaint, she said that Ramnath met her in a pub in July and befriended her. He started calling her on the pretext of providing role in films and started talking certain things which made the victim to feel uncomfortable," he said.
Nisha, who claimed to have acted in a Hindi film and currently working on a Telugu film project, said Ramnath had called her a number of times and asked her to ‘compromise’ to get film roles.
She said when she refused to do so, he started threatening her. "On Sunday, I received a call from a man who said that he was a good friend of Ramnath. The man said that I should not have rejected Ramnath’s offer and threatened to kill me stating he had good underworld links."
Police said they were conducting investigations in the matter.(PTI)
