A Kerala beauty Leena Maria Paul, who is acting opposite Bollywood hunk John Abraham in his upcoming production “Madras Cafe” movie, was arrested from a Delhi farmhouse in a cheating case.Actress Leena and her friend Balaji aka Chandra Sekhar Reddy have cheated Canara Bank of Rs. 19 crore in Chennai.
“Balaji had approached Canara Bank in Chennai posing as an IAS officer and obtained a loan of Rs 19 crore using forged documents on the pretext of opening a firm. He along with Leena also cheated the bank of Rs 76 lakh by seeking an investment for a project,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal.The Delhi Police took up the investigation after a team from the Tamil Nadu Police approached them on May 25 to trace the duo.
On the basis of details available with Chennai Police, DCP Jaiswal said, ground work by Delhi Police revealed that the duo was staying at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Asola village near Fatehpur Beri. A secret watch, the police claimed, was kept on the said farmhouse and the registration numbers of some of the vehicles – including high-end SUVs such as Hummer – were noted down.
“Finally, on the basis of vehicle numbers and on the basis of criminal intelligence, the duo was traced to Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj in the company of half a dozen musclemen,” said DCP Jaiswal.
They were hiding in the farmhouse since May 12 in a bid to evade arrest .Chennai Police had registered a case under sections 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 406 (breach of trust) against the duo in March.Nine luxurious cars and 81 expensive wrist watches have also been recovered from them.The duo are staying in that farmhouse from May 12th by paying Rs 4 Lakhs per month as rent.
Leena is a BDS graduate and into modelling later she entered into film industry.She also acted in Red Chillies movie.
