It’s official. Actor Kavya Madhavan and Kuwait-based software engineer Nishal Chandra are divorced.
Ernakulam family court judge Joseph Thekke Kuruvinal dissolved their two-year-old marriage on Monday.
At the last hearing, the judge had sent the couple for last-term counseling, but Kavya and Nishal submitted there were irreconcilable differences and they could not live together.
Kavya married Nishal in December 2008 and left for Kuwait with him in February 2009. She returned in June and the couple moved court in October.
Born in Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district Kavya entered the film industry as a child artist. In her first film Pookkalam Varavayi in 1991, she played the role of a schoolgirl.
Kavya shot to fame in 1996 when she played the childhood part of the heroine in Kamal’s Azhakiya Rava-nan. She has since acted in over 60 films in Malayalam and a few in Tamil.
Her popular films include ‘Meesha Madhavan’, ‘Madhamabhi’, ‘Classmates’ and ‘Ananthabhadram’.(Agencies)
