India’s first ever 3D dance movie, ABCD – Any Body Can Dance, produced by Disney India, was released last year. It struck a chord with the masses with its storyline, strong emotional connect, and, above all, the magic of dance maestros Remo D’Souza and Prabhu Dheva. The studio had revealed plans for a sequel earlier, and today, they have announced that the film will go on floors from July 2014.
The story of the sequel is inspired by a true story of an Indian dance troupe that participated in the World Hip Hop Competition.
Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor will be essaying the lead roles in ‘ABCD 2’. This is the first time that they are paired on screen together.
Remo D’Souza will be donning the director and choreographer’s hat once again. Prabhu Dheva will be doing the same as well.
The film will be shot in Las Vegas, USA, with over 10 song-and-dance sequences.
“Last year, ABCD took audiences by storm, and we instantly knew that it was one of those movies that naturally lend themselves to becoming a true-blue franchise. Remo and Prabhu are back in action again, and we’re delighted to welcome on board Varun and Shraddha to take the franchise forward. While ABCD 2 is about great dancing, awesome music and the 3D format, it is also an incredibly emotional and dramatic story,” said Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Disney India.
When asked about his take on this project, Remo said, ““Dance has always been my passion and, through ABCD, I saw my passion come to life on the big screen. I am thrilled with the audience’s response to the first movie, and it has prompted me to make a sequel. I’m happy that Disney is supporting me to make this happen! ”
The viewer can’t wait for this sequel to release.
We hope the new fresh pair of Varun and Shraddha can live up to the expectations and standards by the prequel!
