Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots, a take on India’s education system, will be screened in China tomorrow along with the Chinese-dubbed version of the film.
According to China Film Group Corporation, Chinese actress Tang Wei, who made her fame in Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution, has lent her voice to the leading female character played by Kareena Kapoor.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film ranked second after Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name is Khan in the list of highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas. It has already won high acclaim in Taiwan and Hong Kong, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.
Fewer Indian films are shown in China as only a fixed quota of foreign films is allowed to be shown in theaters to encourage domestic productions as well as apprehensions over the liberal content.
