Rangrezz Review

Rating: 3.00/5

Critic Rating: (3.00/5)

With Rangrezz, Priyadarshan delivers a wonderfully watchable movie. The story stays true to the original  Nadodigal (Tamil), while bringing a fresh treatment because of the changed settings.

Priyadarshan has assembled a fantastic team of technicians for the film and it shows. Sabu Cyril comes in for production design and in typical style creates some great sets. The camera is handled by Santosh Sivan, and you are treated to some really nice visuals without being distracted from the story.

The music is passable, but thankfully not in your face.

The actors in the film deserve a special mention. The whole movie is a collection of wonderful performances. Rajpal Yadav does what he does best. Sunil Sinha and Sona Nair as Rishi’s parents are wonderful. But the best performance in the movie comes from Vijay Verma as  Pakkya.

The Plot

The movie revolves around Rishi Deshpande, played nicely by Jackky Bhagnani, a young man with a set of high moral values that he refuses to budge from. He is forever accompanied by two friends, Winu (Amitosh Nagpal) and Pakkya (Vijay Verma). When Rishi’s friend arrives in Mumbai to ask his friend to help him get his girl, the friends tag along too, to help the lovers unite. The boys get the lover’s married at huge personal costs.

Then they have to pick up the pieces of their lives and try to get their own lives on track.

How this sacrifice is not valued by the couple and how the friends react to that makes up the rest of the story.

Verdict

Definitely worth watching. The movie is clean and can be watched with the whole family.
