The winners for 61st National Award were announced today, showcasing some deserving talent walking away with the coveted award for their exceptional performances on screen. The highlight of the List is actor Rajkummar Rao, who won the Best Actor for his outstanding performance as a male protagonist in the film, Shahid. He shared the award with Malayalam Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu for his performance in the film, Perariyathavar.
Interestingly, Shahid had another winner, with Hansal Mehta winning the best Director.
A lot of Bollywood flavour was recognised with film Bhaag Milka Bhaag names the Best Popular film providing wholesome entertainment.
The film ‘Ship of Theseus’ won the Best Feature Film while Saurabh Shukla won the Best Supporting Actor Male for his performance in the film Jolly LLB.
Bengali film Jatiswar won a row of awards that include Music, Make Up, Costume and Male Playback Singing.
Lyricist and Director Gulzar, who was chosen for the Dada Saheb Phalke Award this year, will be felicitated with all the National Award Winners by President Pranab Mukherjee on May 3rd.
