Exactly 20 years ago, on the very day, a film called Baazigar released in India. A brand called SRK was since then born and reigning the industry as such till date. Shah Rukh Khan, who rose to immense fame with his anti portrayal as a hero in the film, was first heavily criticized for making such a wrong choice at an early start of his career. The same critics were eventually silenced after the movie went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood.
Remembering the film fondly, SRK tweeted – “Twenty years of Baazigar. Thank you Abbas Mustan, Kajol, Shilpa (Shetty) and Rakhiji (Rakhi Gulzar)”
Baazigar was a revenge story of a young man set out on a mission to avenge his father’s death. Shah Rukh played the central protagonist, Ajay, who woos two women in the process of reaching his goal. Kajol and Shilpa Shetty played the two leading women of the film.
Thrill, suspense and story – Baazigar was a great formula used in an era of monotone. This Abbas Mustan film is forever remembered for its super punchy dialogues, incredible screenplay and Anu Malik’s foot tapping numbers.
The song, “Yeh Kaali kaali Aankhen’ is one of the most loved songs in Bollywood music.
With King Khan still reigning the scene, will there be a Baazigar2? Not a bad idea at all!
