It is very common in the film industry for people to jump from one profession to the other easily. Many actors became directors, many directors became actors and many more. PRO of many movies and actors, Mahesh S Koneru had become a producer with “Na Nuvve” starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. He has now produced another movie with Kalyan Ram after the failure of his first film. This movie is directed by KV Guhan who is a cinematographer turned director with this movie. This film has Nivetha Thomas and Shalini Pandey as female leads. The trailer which was released as a part of promotions hyped the expectations with its racy and thrilling cut. Let’s see how this movie works as it is releasing today into theatres.
Story
Gautham (Kalyan Ram) is an investigative journalist working with CTV News. He is so curious by nature to know about everything that comes his way. He stays at a resort in the outskirts of Hyderabad for two times, in the same room. While his stay, he gets a violent dream of Aadhya (Nivetha Thomas) getting beaten by some unknown guys in that room. He starts investigating after the second time and he slowly starts solving the mystery and on a day he gets a call from Aadhya. He meets with an accident during the call. Who is Aadhya and what is her story? Who is responsible for the accident of Gautham?
Cast and performance
Kalyan Ram has done a nice performance in the role of investigative journalist Gautham. Nivetha Thomas has done a fantastic job in the role of Aadhya. Shalini Pandey is good as the girlfriend of Gautham. Prabhas Sreenu is fine as a sidekick of Gautham. Nassar is good in a brief role. Hari Teja is good in the role of Esther. Rajeev Kanakala is good in his role. Sravan, Adarsh and all others are fine in their roles.
Writing Department
The story of 118 is a murder mystery and the screenplay is written accordingly with suspenseful moments. The dialogues written by Mirchi Kiran are good.
Technical Departments
The songs composed by Sekhar Chandra are good. He did superb work in composing the background score. The cinematography is superb and editing is good. The action sequences are composed well. The production values of East Coast productions is good.

Verdict
118 is a film that runs around a murder or a violent incident in a suspenseful and thrilling way. Cinematographer KV Guhan who became a director with this movie has done fantastic work in terms of cinematography. The first half of the film takes up to set its premise up by introducing the characters. It doesn’t have that many boring moments and it is good to make the audience engaged. The second half is where the story starts taking turns and the reality of the characters are getting revealed one by one. Though, makers tried to cover the logic, why couldn’t the bad guys try harder to kill Gautham himself to stop the investigation instead of other people? There are some unanswered questions like this which are easily ignored by the director. Director KV Guhan has done a fine job in writing the story and fairly good work in writing the screenplay. Though he tried to narrate a novel thriller, he falls for the typical flashbacks and heroism. He could have worked on something better which could have made this movie special. To sum up, 118 is an engaging thriller which might not appeal to everyone.
