The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum has decided to stage a dharna near Jantar Mantar in Delhi on August 11 and 12, demanding introduction of a bill on Telangana statehood in the current session of Parliament and deletion of Clause 14 (f) of the Presidential Order. MPs, former MPs, MLAs and MLCs will participate in the dharna.
The forum, which met here on Sunday, criticised Union home minister P Chidambaram’s statement in the Lok Sabha on Friday and said it was the responsibility of the Centre to carve out separate state. "The TRS and Congress should not target the TDP or its chief N Chandrababu Naidu," Dayakar Rao told reporters later.
Throwing blame on the Telugu Desam was not right on part of the Union home minister, Dayakar Rao said that the Congress, the ruling party, should spell out its stand first. Even Congress leaders Ponnam Prabhakar and K Keshava Rao said the TDP had already stated its stand in its letter submitted to the Pranab Mukherjee Committee, Rao claimed.
TRS chief K Chadrasekhara Rao too should not target the TDP but focus his attention on the Congress, he suggested. Instead of misleading the people of Telangana, the TRS chief should take the initiative for a united struggle. The political JAC should also strive to bring all the parties under one umbrella.(ENS)
