Claiming that people of Telangana are opposed to proposed tour of Congress MP Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is against the separate statehood, to Warangal district, TRS on Tuesday demanded the Andhra Pradesh Government stop his visit.”People voluntarily participated in the Warangal bandh called today to oppose the tour of Reddy. He is against the formation of separate Telangana and people are upset.
If he forces his way into Telangana, it will lead to terrible developments,” TRS President Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters here tonight.Jagan, as the young MP is popularly known, has announced to undertake the tour ofWarangal district from May 28 to console the families of those who committed suicides following the death of his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a copter crash last year. He also wanted to provide financial assistance to such families.
TRS and the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising various organisations, have been vehemently opposing Jagan’s visit as he is opposed to separate Telangana.Asserting that Jagan’s visit is seen as an attack on Telangana by leaders from non-Telangana areas, Rao warned the situation would flare up in the region if he forces his way.”We are ready for a face-off. But Prime Minister had personally requested me to see that peace is restored in Telangana,” the former Union Minister said.(PTI)
