TDP suffering from ‘KVP phobia’: Congress

After a long period of silence, leaders of the Congress including ministers have come out in defence of Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao who has been accused of amassing wealth by fraudulent means.

Talking with reporters at the Congress Legislature Party Office here today, Higher Education Minister D Sridhar Babu and Rural Water Supply Minister P Vishvarop, and MLAs Erasu Pratap Reddy and Praveenkumar Reddy dismissed the TDP allegations as baseless and claimed that Rao was the only responsible person in the State Government.

Coming down heavily on the main Opposition party, they said that making baseless allegations against those in responsible positions in the government had become a habit for TDP leaders. “The TDP should realise that the poeple had shown it the place it deserved and, yet, if the party did not change its attitude, the yellow brigade would even lose the status of an Opposition party. In the next eleciton, the TDP might get only one or two seats and I will not be surprised if it draws a blank,’’ Sridhar Babu said.

The Congress leaders wondered how TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, with his nine long years of experience as chief minister, could make silly remarks against Ramachandra Rao. “The TDP had made several baseless allegations in the past too. Not a single allegation was proved,’’ Sridhar Babu said, adding that the TDP leadership was having a `KVP phobia’.

Sridhar Babu said that the revenues of the State Government had taken a hit on account of recession sweeping the entire world but it did not mean that the government had gone bankrupt. The present government headed by Rosaiah was continuing all the welfare and developmental programmes initiated by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and the Congress was set to capture power again in the State in the next election, Sridhar Babu said.

Pratap Reddy said that during the TDP rule there used to be difficulty for finances and the government had go for overdraft with Reserve Bank of India. He rubbished the allegations made by TDP MLA Gali Muddukrishanma Naidu against government and that the State was going bankrupt and into financial ruin.(Express Buzz)
