The Nampally court, on Tuesday, granted conditional bail to actor Ravi Teja’s brothers and their associates, who were arrested for buying cocaine from a drug peddler of Nigerian nationality.
The court, while granting bail to Ravi Teja’s brothers — Bharat and Raghu Babu – and their friend Naresh, asked them to report 2 times a week to the City Crime Station Deputy Commissioner of Police, and directed them not to leave the city until further orders.
The court granted them bail on a surety of Rs. 5,000 and the signature of 2 guarantors.
Earlier, the Nampally court had reserved its orders on the bail petition of the culprits.
The 3, along with a Nigerian National Cheema Claymen, were nabbed red-handed by the police late on the night of August 20, and arrested on charges of buying the banned drug cocaine. Cheema Claymen is accused of being their supplier.
The arrests of the 4 in the drug case led to shock and disbelief in the city, especially in the light of their relationship to one of the topmost actors from the Telugu film industry.
City Police Commissioner A K Khan had told media persons that the incident was one amongst the spate of cases in which the kin of the rich and famous were falling prey to drug suppliers and indulging in the highly addictive habit.
Khan had said that the Anti Drug Cell will concentrate on the suppliers and take special care to identify sources of supply to eliminate the menace at the root.
The Police Chief had also said that his men are investigating the involvement of around 60 more influential people in the city in the illegal drug trade. (INN)
