Having series of hits in their career is a dream of many heroes and directors, because success defines who they are and what they can. To score a success they work so hard over years. They release their movie once in a year counting to one. This is how all are working now. On the other side we have Nani who is scoring hits in a row starting from Yevade Subrahmanyam to the last release Gentleman. He teamed up with Virinchi Varma for another romantic movie in the name of Majnu, who earlier directed Uyyala Jampala produced by Anandi art creations. Nani is coming with his third release this year whose previous two releases are hits. Let’s see how it works on us!!

Story

A still from Majnu

Aditya (Nani) is an assistant director in the team of great director S S Rajamouli directing Baahubali who hails from Bheemavaram. He somehow meets an IT SAP consultant Suma (Priya Shri) who happens to like everything Aditya do and who enjoy his flirting and slowly start to fall for him during which Aditya tells her about his past love story with a girl from his native Bheemavaram named Kiran (Anu Emmanuel) and how he failed in saving their relationship being a good natured guy. He reveal his past to Suma in order to discourage her from loving him as he is still loving Kiran, but she loves his frank nature even more. Kiran yet gain comes into Aditya’s life. Why did Kiran walk away from his life?? Why did she comeback again?? How he sorted out his triangular love story forms the rest of the story.

Cast and Performance

Nani, who is already carrying a good tag as natural performer does it again. He played the role of Aditya with ease and has even added charm to the role. Anu Emmanuel as Kiran is okay. She looks great in half sarees and good in trendy wear. Priya Shri is okay as Suma and she looks skinny despite her costumes being good. Posani Krishna Murali is fantastic in his role. Vennela Kishore never missed his timing and has succeeded exceptionally well in bringing out laughs. All others did fine job. Special appearances by S S Rajamouli and Raj Tarun are enjoyable.

Story of Majnu is so simple and nothing new that we haven’t seen earlier but screenplay is so tight and is written well engaging audience. Dialogues work well and are good.

Technical Departments

Songs composed by Gopi Sunder are nice and they complemented the flow of movie well. Background score is neat and enjoyable. Cinematography by Gnanasekhar is superb and he did terrific job in making visuals look great. Editing is fine despite some cliche. Songs are well choreographed. Production values are super rich.

Highlights

  • Nani as Aditya
  • Kiran and Aditya love story
  • Songs by Gopi Sunder
  • Comic sequences
  • Cinematography by Gnanasekhar

Minus

  • Predictable Second Half

Verdict

This movie begins with introducing Nani as an assistant director to S S Rajamouli. It goes on a very lighter note giving audience loads of laughs. Nani shines with his timing and he makes audience enjoy his presence. This half ends with an interesting bang generating enough curiosity among audience for the second half. Second half is a let down comparing to first half. Director Virinchi Varma made sure he never disappoint audience with entertainment and visuals. He established the love story of Kiran and Aditya so good and carried the tempo.Songs come at right places and are higly engaging and enjoyable. The flaw that can be noticed in scripting is Kiran changing his mind in the matter of Aditya. It seemed so not convincing. The result of this movie would have been negative if not for Nani. To sum up, this Majnu is an addition to the hit movies list of Nani.
