An actor who generates comedy with his timing and body language is said to be a comedian. We in Telugu Film Industry has no dearth of such actors. Some of them tried as main protagonist’s in many films but are back to their originality after one or two films. But, Sunil who is a star comedian once tried his luck as hero in Andala Ramudu and he started his full time acting as hero from Maryada Ramanna, directed by S S Rajamouli. He scored some decent hits in the beginning and duds after that. He is once again coming as hero in the movie “Krishnastami”, a high budgeted family entertainer directed by Vasu Varma, produced by Dil Raju under his SVC Banner. Let’s see how it works on us!!

Krishna Vara Prasad (Sunil) lives in United States of America, who always wishes to return India. His family lives in India. His family also wishes for his return but his father’s elder brother (Mukesh Rishi) talks with a priest and fixes him a deal to tell their family that Krishna should not return to India, if he do so he will die like that. Krishna do not listen to them and comes to India without telling his father’s elder brother. Things twist up in unexpected way and he ends in Ajay’s place (whom he met in his journey from USA to India) in the house of Asutosh Rana. He leaves from there and villain’s gang attack him and the gang is none other than the brother of Asutosh Rana. Why they attack him?? How he reached his home safely forms the rest of the story.

Cast and Performance

Sunil as Krishna Vara Prasad is superb and carries whole film on his shoulders. He is once again back with his dance movements. Nikki Galrani as Pallavi is good. She makes a superb debut into Telugu with this movie. But her character in this movie has a lot of resemblances and findings with that of Kajal Aggarwal’s character in NTR’s Baadshah. Sapthagiri is at his usual best. His acts are funny throughout the movie. Posani is good in his role. Ajay did his role well. Mukesh Rishi is nice. Dimple is good in her glamorous role. Ashutosh Rana, 30 years Prudhvi, Viva Harsha, Chitram Seenu, Pallavi and others are good in their respective roles.

Basic story by Sri Venkateswara Creations is routine. Screenplay of the movie is okay. Dialogues by Tammareddy and Ashwin are good. Comedy scenes written, works at places. Care should have been taken while writing comedy and screenplay.

Technical Departments

Music by Dinesh is okay. None of the songs are worth remembering after coming out of the theatre. Background music is good. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is superb. His taste of colors and his visual sense is proved again. His visuals are of master class. Editing by Gowtham Raju is average. Action by Arasu are composed well. Art direction by S Ravinder is nice. Dance moves choreographed are good. Production values are nice.

Highlights

  • Sunil
  • Cinematography by Chota K Naidu

Minus

  • Same age old and routine story
  • Pale comedy

Verdict

Movie begins with the design of a game by Sunil and his family deciding to fix his marriage followed by hero introduction bike chase and some heroic dialogues. All fall into place in a formulaic way. Hero making heroine fall for him in just three days seems illogical, unbelievable and also fails to create necessary emotional depth. Villain’s gang searching for hero and trying to kill him runs in background in the same way as we had already seen in many movies. This half ends in half interesting way and creates the necessary excitement to watch second half. Second half starts with Sunil assessing what is what and who is who. He tries his best to know why they tried to kill them. He solve all his problems and goes his home safely. To sum up, movies is just a routine and below average attempt.
