England 319/2 at tea on day two

BIRMINGHAM: Alastair Cook struck his 19th test century as England reached 319-2 to lead India by 95 runs at tea Thursday on the second day of the third test at Edgbaston.

Cook’s unbeaten knock of 129 came from 244 balls with 20 fours. Kevin Pietersen is 36 not out.

India claimed two wickets in an extended afternoon session. Andrew Strauss was bowled by Amit Mishra for 87 from 176 balls with 13 fours.

India’s best bowler, Praveen Kumar, bowled Ian Bell for 34. He had figures of 1-50 with 11 maidens. (AP)
