DK’s son held for ‘slapping traffic cop’

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanamsboard chief and liquor baron D K Adikeshavulu Naidu’s son D A Srinivas was arrested on Thursday for allegedly slapping a traffic SI in Bangalore.

Srinivas allegedly thrashed the SI at Majestic Centre after an altercation over parking of his vehicle. He was booked under three sections of IPC. He was later released on bail.

Srinivas had contested on PRP ticket from Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency, which he lost to Congress candidate Sai Pratap in the 2009 elections. With a wide business network across Karnataka, he is considered DK’s successor in business as well as in politics.

Meanwhile, rumours spread here that Srinivas’ arrest was following his assault on a singer.

“My son had an argument with a security guard when he was prevented from parking his car. The issue has been blown out of proportion,” DK told TOI.

The TTD chief went on to point a finger at members of Kannada Parirakshna Samithi for creating a ruckus on the issue. “They occupy every inch of the road in the name of spreading Kannada pride. How can they restrict movement of others,” he asked. [TOI]
