Delhi University student raped in car

A businessman has been arrested on charges of abducting and raping a 17-year-old student of Delhi University in his car here, police said on Thursday.

The first year student was on her way back from college on Wednesday evening when Mukesh Singhal dragged her inside his Wagon R car in Moti Nagar in west Delhi, the deputy commissioner of police, Mr Sharad Agarwal, said.

"Singhal stopped his car and asked her an address. When she responded, he pulled her inside the car and took her to an isolated place where she was raped," Agarwal told IANS.

The accused, a resident of Ashok Vihar in north Delhi, later dumped her in front of her college.

"The victim then approached the police and was taken to a hospital, where medical examination has confirmed rape," Agarwal said.
