Introduction

Undoubtedly, Chirutha happens to be the most expected movie from the younger generation of the stars in Telugu film industry. A sea of publicity went by days before the release of the film. Puri Jagan is entrusted with the responsibility of grooming the megastar’s son. He brought justice to projecting the stamina of Ram Charan, but grossly neglected the portions of the story, screenplay and direction. The dialogues department which received of immense praise in Pokiri takes the back seat here. The movie is completely dependent on the performance of Ram Charan.

Plot

If you are serious filmgoer, you will find fault with the story first. The story runs without any happening from the beginning. Puri Jagan gave the extreme levels of dramatic projection in treating the hero, story and its twists. A boy aged about 8, Charan (Ram Charan) goes to jail for the crime committed in distress by his mother. His father (Surya) is brutally killed by Bhai (Ashish Vidyardhi). After twelve years, he comes out burning with vengeance. He comes to know that his mother is no more. He falls in love with a beautiful girl Sanjana (Neha Sharma). Meanwhile, he goes to Bangkok in search of the villain, who by now has expanded his mafia in Hong Kong and Thailand. There he spots Sanjana and becomes the guide to her tourist-entourage. He has to achieve the twin objectives. To kill his rival and to win the girl. Fortune also smiles on the hero in the form his mother coming alive and hugging him. Watch the family drama for yourself.

Performance

Ram Charan has loads of energy in dance and stunts departments. He didn’t letdown the audiences, who awaited his arrival with great expectations. His dedicated efforts to reflect the hard work naturally is fructified. With his stylish performance, he has brought cheer upon his dad Megastar and the fans as well. Definitely, he awaits a great turn in his career. To cut the ice, Ram Charan simply rocked, though he is the debut actor.

Neha Sharma looked older to Ram Charan. Her profuse lisping and chatterbox characterization sometimes turned a source of boredom. However, she has all the assets to prove her mettle. The dialogue delivery didn’t suit her body language. The last song makes her pretty beautiful and glamorous.

Asish Vidyarthi played the villain with élan. He brought maximum punch in his characterization, particularly at the climax. Rakesh Raj, who played his son, could bring impressive performance as a baddy. Sayaji Shinde looks in a three-minute role which has no punch in it. Tannikella Bharani too comes and goes just like that. Pragati played the mother to Ram Charan. Her performance is neat, but more on the lines of a dramatic appeal.

Ali’s role as a male turned into woman has some relief, but is smeared in vulgarity. Brahmanandam’s talent is wasted. You have Venu Madhav too, but the audience would forget about him immediately after the first half. To say it right, Venu Madhav’s did the role of a character artiste rather than a comedian. Dharmavarapu and MS Narayana have lengthy footage in this film.  Prakash Raj sizzles now and then, only to make a strong presence at the climax. A possessive father, he wants Sanjana get separated from Charan. He plays a major role in bringing the truth about hero’s mother.

Technical Details

Puri Jagan, who conceived From Hyderabad to Bangkok to Hong Kong story missed the balance. This time, the story sounds more remote and strikingly dramatic. There is no proper cohesion in the characterization of the hero. After release from the jail, he immediately gets the passport to go to Thailand. He finds the girl whom he had loved in Hyderabad at Bangkok. A baddy who tries to molest the heroine happens to be the brother of his rival. Helicopters are freely used by Prakash Raj in Thailand territory that too bringing the hero mother there within 24 hours of giving him a word. These remote links couldn’t match.

Comedy is weak, despite having all the big comedians. Cinematography is excellent. Dialogues are mediocre.

Songs are average to good to excellent, when we stretch it to eight songs. But, surely, these songs come as speed breakers and are even not situational mostly. Music by Mani Sharma is appealing. The last song is the highlight.

Stunts by Vijayan master is a big asset to the movie. He could play into force some of the uncanny acrobatics to lift Ram Charan to the levels of an action hero.

Judgement

Ram Charan’s daredevil stunts and high voltage steps are a good watch. But, Puri Jagan disappoints with his outdated story with modern screenplay and rich production values.
