Vijayasanthi who shook the Telugu youth in the 1980s with her slim figure has enjoyed a star heroine status. Her films, especially with Chiru, are smashing hits back in the eighties and Gang Leader is one among many blockbusters. Their pair is often termed as best pair in Tollywood in those times. Later she quit acting and got busy with politics and at one time, she even became a rival for Chiru in politics. After all these years, the makers of Chiru151 approached her for a crucial role opposite Chiru for which she readily agreed.
