While he debuted back in 2002 with Ram Gopal Verma’s Company, his friends and family weren’t too sure about his choice of film. But after his bang-on bombastic debut, Vivek won hearts with his portrayal of Chandu, and how he brought authenticity and rustic charm to the underworld Bhai. Not many know that for the role Chandu, Vivek did a lot of preparations on his own part, while he lived in a chawl in Mumbai, ate with and spoke like the bastiwalas and picked up their mannerisms just to surprise RGV’s team with his method acting. He bagged the role and the rest is history.

Same year Vivek did two more films, Road and Saathiya. While road was not that talked about, with Saathiya this Oberoi lad, conquered too many hearts. In the role of a romantic hero, with the dapper looks and his classy built, Vivek just became the dream-man of tinselville.

To his name in a career of more than a decade, Vivek had many hits and misses. But there were some roles that are credited to this actor’s name that remain most-loved. In strong, well-written roles in Company, Yuva, Omkara, Kurbaan, Rakht Charitra, Shootout at Lokhandwala; Vivek just won applauses for his acting caliber and proved to all his mettle. But the star has a list of a more than few flops like Pyaare Mohan, Kaal, Kisna, Fool N Final, Naksha, Home Delivery, Jayantabhai Ki LUV Story, and others.

With films like Grand Masti and Krissh 3, Vivek has made a massive comeback and is being again banked upon by the directors. His fallout with a Superstar had made it to the newsstands, reason being a tiff over a ladylove, all that had reflected gravely upon his career. He went through a rough patch but he emerges out of the darkness shining too bright. But letting the bygones is the mantra and by the looks of it, burying his hatchet, Vivek is concentrating more upon the good things in life.

In 2010, he married Priyanka Alva, daughter of late politician Jeevraj Alva. His lucky charm is his son Vivaan Veer Oberoi and the toddler has brought immense luck to Daida Oberoi. With a beautiful wife in tow, an adorable son and a sky-rocketing career, Vivek is riding high upon success.
