59th National Film Awards Winners!

Director Onir’s ‘I AM’ was declared the best Hindi film at the 59th National Awards announced here on Wednesday.

Girish Kulkarni was named the best actor for his performance in the Marathi film Deeol. Directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, Deeol focuses on the dilemma of educated youth in villages.

Bollywood Stylist Neeta Lulla and Niharika Khan shared the best costume design award for their work in Marathi film Bal Gandharva and Hindi movie The Dirty Picture.

Shah Rukh Khan’s superhero film RA.One was named for best special effects. Harry Hingorani and Keitan Yadav won the award for their work in RA.One.

Ashvin Kumar’s ‘Inshallah’ on football and Arun Chadha’s ‘Mindscape’ about the differently abled’s need for intimacy were jointly named the best film on social issues.

Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl directed ‘Chillar Party’ was named the best children’s film and also won the prestigious award for the best original screenplay for writers Nitesh Tiwari, Vijay Maurya and Vikas Bahl.

Bosco-Ceaser won for directing popular song ‘Senorita’ in the film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

Best Costume Designer: Niharika Khan for The Dirty Picture and Neeta Lulla for Bal Gandharva
Best Make Up: Vijram Gaekwad for The Dirty Picture and Bal Gandharva
Best Supporting Actor: Appu Kutty
Best Children’s Film: Chillar Party (IANS)
